League Starts: Thursday May 22, 2025
League Ends: Thursday August 28, 2025
End of year Tournament and BBQ: Tentatively setup for Saturday August 30, 2025.
Time: The league starts at 5:00 PM
Place: First Tee Monterey County at Twin Creeks Golf Course in Salinas, CA.
Green Fees: $12.00 per round (waived for Twin Creeks members)
Cart Fees: $10.00 per rider
League Fees: $65.00 per teammate (one-time fee)
All fees are payable on the first and second days of play, May 22nd and May 29th.
Twin Creeks Golf Course accepts only credit cards and touchless payments. Please pick
up your scorecards at the golf course desk on Thursday nights before the match starts.
Team pairings and handicaps will be posted on the window next to the golf course desk
and on the Golf App. Handicaps are not posted during the first week; they are determined
after the scores are entered into the database using an adjusted average handicap system,
like the NCGA handicap system.
Handicaps will be used in this league and calculated by the League software, Golf Genius.
Scores must also be entered into the App Software. Therefore, at least one team member
must be logged into the app to record scores on each match day. If any technical issues
arise, physical scorecards will be available and should be submitted to the Twin Creeks
pro shop for entry into the Golf Genius App Software.
Each player will be asked to fill out a Google Form to notify First Tee of interest in playing in
this league. As the first day of league play approaches, each player will be sent a link to
register their team and players on Golf Genius App.
Each round is a 2-man team match play format. The average score between teammates
will be counted as the team’s overall score for the week.
Each week only 2 members of a team will play; opponents and starting holes will be
randomized. Live scoring and chat features will be used within the league page. Posting in
the chat is encouraged but please keep all chats professional. Posting photos is also
encouraged before, during and after rounds.
The format: The season is 15 weeks starting May 22nd and ending on August 28th.
The format is two-person match play.
Scoring System:
• For Each Hole:
Win: 1 point
Tie: ½ point
Loss: 0 points
• For the Match:
Win: An additional 2 points
Tie: 1 point
Loss: 0 points
Playoffs and Special Events:
• The top 4 teams will advance to a playoff during the year-end tournament.
• To add variety, we will host three special format days:
o Two-person scramble
o Three-club tournament
o Two-person Scotch or another format to be determined.
Each of these mini-tournaments will feature a first-place prize, which will be awarded at
the year-end tournament. Additionally, we’ll host Margarita nights throughout the year,
typically on tournament nights.
Handling No Shows and Byes:
• Teams that do not show up or have a bye will receive zero points for that week.
• If a team is uncontested (i.e., their opponents do not show up), they must still play
the round to earn points. Their scorecard will be submitted as usual, and a
computer-generated “ghost” player will be used to determine the points they earn
for that round.
End of Season Tournament and BBQ:
Tournament: Saturday Morning August 30, 2025. Exact time TBD
Tournament Format:
• Low Net Score: Team members with the lowest net score will win prizes. (Prize
details and further information will be provided later.)
Local Rules and Pace of Play Tips for Weekly Matches:
• Fast Pace of Play: It’s crucial to maintain a fast pace to ensure the game finishes
before it gets dark.
• Rules:
o NCGA rules apply, with the following exceptions:
The maximum score on a hole is double par, unless critical.
Winter rules apply throughout the summer.
A 6-inch bump is allowed anywhere except in sand traps or on greens.
Gimme putts are encouraged to speed up play. If your opponent
concedes a putt, count it as one stroke and pick up your ball. (Note:
Gimme putts are not allowed during the year-end tournament.)
Lost Ball: Normally, you have 3 minutes to find a lost ball, with a
stroke and distance penalty. For our league, to speed up play, you
may drop a new ball where you think it was lost, add a two-stroke
penalty, and continue.
Ready Golf: Play out of turn if safe and ready, to keep the game
moving quickly.
Safety: Yell “fore” if there’s a risk of hitting someone with your ball.
Etiquette: Do not step on another player’s line on the green.
Procedures for All Match Days:
1. Weekly Team Pairings: I will email the team you are playing against each week,
along with the standings and handicaps after the second week.
2. Check-In at the Course:
• Pay green fees.
• Pick up your scorecard.
• Check the pairing and handicaps posted outside the pro shop.
• Purchase refreshments and merchandise if desired.
3. Starting Procedure:
• Your scorecard will indicate your starting hole, which should match your
pairing list.
• Arrive at your starting hole about 5 minutes before start time.
• We use a Shotgun Start:
i. If more than 18 teams are playing, start times will be staggered.
ii. Groups labeled ‘A’ start first; ‘B’ groups start second.
4. During Play:
• After each hole, record your scores in App.
• If you’re struggling on a hole, you may pick up after reaching double par
(continue if it impacts competition).
• At the round’s end, compare total points with your opponent to determine
the match winner: 2 points for a win, 1 for a tie, and none for a loss.
5. After Play:
• If you completed your scorecard, return your scorecard to the pro shop or a
First Tee staff member. If no one is available, text a photo of the scorecard to
Miguel, Ray, or Greg.
• Enjoy your game and have fun!
